I love my Estee Lauder makeup. With a yellowy skin tone like mine, it just seems to work perfectly. Not only that, but it looks natural and lasts all day. On saying that, it has taken me sometime to actually start to replace all of my cheaper brands with this more expensive product.
At first I thought I would just need to upgrade for my foundation, as every girl knows how important it is to get the base and starting canvas right. It wasn't long, however, before I felt the need to trial the Estee Lauder concealer. Did I mention that they had a concealer specifically for my dreaded dark circles? Only a few weeks would pass and then I'd be running out of my lipgloss (previously from a cheaper brand) and that too would have to be upgraded. This was even when at the same time I was wondering how a lipgloss could possibly be upgraded!? Maybe by this stage I was feeling some loyalty to the brand... Possibly that I felt I was cheating if I got anything else!
Now, another product has been drawn into my attention... but I can totally argue that this is almost by far one of the best purchases I have made in terms of makeup. My lovely mother is probably the original cause for my love of Estee Lauder and recently she purchased the AeroMatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder in Transparent.
I had been using the Maybelline Shine Free Loose Powder and had always found that by about lunch time, the fresh face that I had in the morning had almost disappeared. Instead, I had a strange skin colour and parts of the makeup had rubbed off leaving a patchy, dry appearance. I just thought that this was the usual effects of daytime activities on my makeup and didn't think much more of it.
About two weeks ago we had a wedding to go to and so I dropped over to my Mum's to trial her new powder. Unlike the Maybelline loose powder, this was pressed and was hardly vi sable when wiping the applicator over it. The Maybelline powder was always extreamly thick and powdery - I know I'm comparing loose to compact, but there was definitely a difference!
When the Estee Lauder went on, there was no pink colour as I found with the Maybelline. I just dabbed the applicator over my face and had to wait to see how it would last. Overall, it was no where near as heavy in appearance, in fact, I couldn't even use the word "heavy" in my description. It just felt very natural.
By afternoon, there was no strange colour to my makeup and it still looked quite fresh. There were no marks from where it had been rubbed off and I was still feeling like I could go out for dinner or visit friends without having to redo my foundation.
In summary, I was very pleased!
So, I've lasted another two weeks using my old Maybelline powder but yesterday, I just couldn't wait any longer. I dashed into the Estee Lauder counter and within a few minutes, I was happily walking out with the newest addition to my makeup collection. With some types of products, I think the cheaper brands are definitely fine to use and I actually like my Maybelline mascara but I have to say, you get what you pay for when buying products which deal with the "canvas" of your face!
